As part of Swachhta Pakhwada from 17th September to 02nd October 2024, following activities were carried out on 21.09.2024. Human Chain: Symbolic events where people join hands to raise awareness and demonstrate commitment to cleanliness and sanitation: Reduce, Reuse, Recycle’ activities aligned to Mission LiFE (Lifestyle for Environment)
Human chain events are powerful platforms for engaging the public in discussions about cleanliness, waste reduction, and environmental sustainability. Aligned with the goals of Mission LiFE, these events foster unity, inspire commitment to the Reduce, Reuse, Recycle principles and help create a cleaner and more sustainable future for all. They symbolize the collective strength of communities in addressing global environmental challenges while promoting individual responsibility in daily actions. This activity was coordinated by Dr. R. Sridevi, Senior scientist, Dr. Narayanan G, Senior scientist, and Dr. C. S. Sathish Gowda, Scientist of ICAR-NIVEDI.
By participating in these events, individuals demonstrate their resolve to embrace sustainable practices that positively impact the planet. Human chain event was organized as part of Swachh Seva to raise awareness about cleanliness, proper sanitation, and the need for reducing plastic waste. Participants included local government officials and civic society group, all committed to sustaining a cleaner environment
Key Themes and Activities:1. Reduce: Participants are educated on the importance of reducing consumption,
avoiding single-use plastics, and minimizing waste generation. Human chain event
this featured placards and slogans where individuals commited to reduc their personal
waste footprint.
2. Reuse: Event emphasized the creative reuse of items that would otherwise be
discarded. Human chain formations, where participants learn how to repurpose
everyday items, promoting a shift from the throwaway culture.
3. Recycle: To encourage recycling habits, participants in this event were invited to
bring recyclable materials.
Mission LiFE (Lifestyle for Environment) Overview
Mission LiFE is a global initiative spearheaded by India to combat climate change by
promoting sustainable living practices. It seeks to encourage individuals to adopt eco-friendly
habits in their daily lives, focusing on reducing waste, reusing resources, and recycling
materials wherever possible. The human chain events form part of the mission’s efforts to
