17th September 2024 (Day 1):

As a part of Swachhata Hi Seva 2024 from 17th Sep -02nd Oct., 2024, ICAR-NIVEDI, Bengaluru today (17.09.2024) organized Swachhta Pledge taking ceremony and display of banner at prominent places. Dr. Baldev Raj Gulati, Director administered Swachhta Pledge and motivated staff of ICAR-NIVEDI to participate in various activities planned for the period of Swachhata Hi Seva 2024 with Swabhav Swachhata, Sanskaar Swachhata and to make it a grand success.

Dr Narayanan, Senior Scientist and Nodal Officer explained different activities planned to be carried out by the institute during the 15 days period. While emphasizing the core theme as Swachhta, other Government of India’s flagship programs such as Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam plantation drive, Women Empowerment, Atmanirbhar Bharat, and Swasth Bharat have been blended with the activities planned to be undertaken during the period. The activities planned were discussed with all the staff and encouraged to devote 100 hours of time voluntarily for cleanliness activities throughout the year.

Swachhta pledge and display of banners: Banners with the theme of Swachhta were prepared and displayed inside and outside the campus for wider publicity about the Swachhata Hi Seva 2024 activities taken up by the institute. The Swachhta Pledge was taken in (Hindi, English and Kannada) for convenience of all categories of staff. Along with Swachhtta banners was displayed prominently inside and outside the campus for creating awareness

‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ plantation drives across local bodies alongside beautification: ICAR-NIVEDI, in collaboration with the Centre for Environment Education, successfully organized a special plantation drive on 17th September 2024 the aim is to encourage citizens to plant trees as a symbol of love and respect for their mothers, while also promoting the protection and preservation of Mother Earth. The Director, Scientists, Administrative staff and project staffs were actively participated in planting various saplings, all of which were selected to suit the local environment and promote biodiversity.

Over 1000 saplings were planted during the event, contributing significantly to the Institute’s efforts to enhance the green cover and promote environmental sustainability. Around 150 participants took part in this initiative, planting various native species to enhance the campus’s green cover. The event highlighted the importance of environmental conservation, symbolically connecting tree planting with honouring mothers. The plantation drive was a resounding success, contributing to the Global Campaign’s mission and reflecting ICAR-NIVEDI’s commitment to sustainability. The saplings planted will be carefully nurtured to ensure their growth, further strengthening the Institute’s ongoing environmental efforts.
